Here are some of the things I like to order: I tend to not always pick from the conveyor belt and like to order straight from the menu so I don’t have to wait for what I like to come by – but if you’re not in a rush and just want to try various things you see on the belt then definitely opt for picking from it – once you know what you want more of – simply order it again directly from the staff. The pricing here is simple: Red plate = 135 after tax / Gold plate = 216 after tax That being said, I do still like eating here often as it does taste pretty delicious and the pricing is also good value for what you get. The menu at both locations is the same, and close to what I described authentic Japanese sushi to be at the beginning of this post, however the atmosphere of this restaurant can be quite busy and chaotic, especially at the main branch. (I’ll put the address and map for both at the end of this post). The other location doesn’t have this, and you just simply go to the door. One thing to note is that the queue for the main location does not start at the door instead there is a little sign/stand opposite the restaurant in the middle of the road, where you queue up parallel to the restaurant, and wait to be called to the door by one of the staff who will then check how many people are in your group and take you inside. This branch often has a very long queue so if I want a quick sushi fix I tend to go to the other smaller branch which is roughly a 10 min walk away. The busiest of which is the original branch, on the main tourist street. In Osaka’s main tourist area Namba/ Dotonbori, there are 2 Genrokuzushi restaurants close to each other that I have been to. The conveyor belt sushi concept first started in Osaka at Genrokuzushi more than 50 years ago, so this has been a very popular restaurant for many years. ![]() One of my favourite conveyor belt sushi restaurants in Japan, is Osaka’s original conveyor belt sushi restaurant called Genrokuzushi. One of the most popular types of sushi restaurants all of the world are conveyor belt restaurants, where you have the choice of either ordering from a menu or picking up whatever sushi looks appetizing from a conveyor belt. The rice is warm and soft with the right amount of vinegar and doesn’t fall apart easily, the fish on top is fresh and melts in the mouth, the wasabi is often grated fresh, and they often have two types of soy sauce, standard and sweet – it’s just perfect! Now in Japan, sushi is indeed on another level. ![]() Eating sushi in Japan is a must! When I first went to Japan this was one of the things I just had to cross off my bucket list.
